Ohio native, Jacqueline Floro moved to NYC, working for fashion houses such as Natori, Polo Ralph Lauren, & NY&Co.  In 2005, she launched her contemporary missy collection, Bilingual Clothing.   Inspired by her world travels, she infused her Euro-Asian background into flattering dresses & sexy tops in vibrant, eye catching, ethnic prints.

Navy veteran, Cortney Burk, left Guam and moved to LA, trading in her sailor dungarees for frilly frocks. Her fashion career was in full throttle as she immediately began plus size modeling and working with fashion stylists, learning the tricks of the trade.

Their very different worlds collided when Jacqueline moved to LA and needed a second in command to help design Bilingual Clothing.

Light fades, cue music, birds chirping.

The beginning of the Beginnings.

The design duo worked together on Bilingual, but also started their own separate side projects:  After a series of requests (especially from Cortney who is plus size) Jacqueline launched plus size clothing line, INES Collection; Cortney, an advocate for plus size fashion, introduced her plus size online boutique, Shop Translated, where the INES Collection debuted.

A drive-thru moment

Day to day activities included fashion shows, trunk shows, buyer meetings, shopping nights, LA & New York photoshoots, filling these two woman’s schedules. One evening, after a long day, just before catching their flight to Asia, the two enjoyed a quieter moment in the parking lot of a burger joint.  Relishing the last bite of their all-American burgers, Cortney announces, “If I’m sitting, I’m happy.  If I’m sitting & eating, I’m twice as happy!” The two girls burst out laughing, and right there in the parking lot, inspiration struck!  The two decided to merge Shop Translated & INES Collection into one, giving them the ability to offer MORE to their plus size customers.  Months later, the two decided to relocate from sunny LA and head back east, making North Carolina their base.

In the fast paced world of fashion, Shop Translated translates the hottest, newest, and next trends by being the style expert for women with curves.  Shop Translated also offer monthly style tips specific for individual plus size body types and exclusive sales to their plus size customers.
